Indications:
Antacid; For the treatment of acid-reflux disorders (GERD), peptic ulcer disease, H. pylori eradication, and prevention of gastrointestinal bleeds with NSAID use
Dosage:
Adult – 15 to 40 mg daily in divided doses
Paediatric – Up to 30 mg daily in divided doses
Mechanism of Action:
Proton pump inhibitor; suppress gastric acid secretion by specific inhibition of the (H+,K+)-ATPase enzyme system at the secretory surface of the gastric parietal cell
Side Effects:
Diarrhoea, skin rash or itching
