Ciprofloxacin

Indications:
Antibiotic; Used in Urinary Tract Infections, Lower Respiratory Tract Infections, Pneumonia, Bone and Joint Infections

Dosage:
Adult – 500 to 1500 Milligram daily in divided doses
Paediatric – 10 mg/kg; maximum 400 mg per dose

Mechanism of Action:
Bactericidal action of ciprofloxacin results from inhibition of the topoisomerase enzymes in bacteria thereby hampering cell activities

Side Effects:
Arthralgia; Diarrhoea
