Indications:
Antacid; Used for short-term treatment of erosion and ulceration of the oesophagus caused by gastroesophageal reflux disease
Dosage:
Adult – 20 to 40 mg daily in divided doses
Paediatric – Up to 20 mg daily in divided doses
Mechanism of Action:
Proton pump inhibitor; Suppresses the final step in gastric acid production by forming a covalent bond to two sites of the (H+,K+ )- ATPase enzyme system
Side Effects:
Headache, diarrhoea, taste perversion, nasopharyngitis
