Nimesulide

Indications:
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID); Used in treatment of acute pain, osteoarthritis and primary dysmenorrhoea in adolescents and adults above 12 years old

Dosage:
Adult – 100 to 300 mg daily in divided doses

Mechanism of Action:
Targets a number of key mediators of the inflammatory process such as: COX-2 mediated prostaglandins, free radicals, proteolytic enzymes and histamine

Side Effects:
Risk of hepatotoxicity; Diarrhoea, Vomiting, Skin rash, Itchiness, Dizziness
