Indications:
Antibiotic; Used to treat bacterial infections of the skin, sinuses, kidneys, bladder, or prostate; Also used in bronchitis, pneumonia and anthrax
Dosage:
Adult – 250 to 500 mg daily in divided doses
Paediatric – 100 mg to 250 mg daily in divided doses
Mechanism of Action:
Fluroquinolone; Inhibits the supercoiling activity of bacterial DNA gyrase, halting DNA replication in bacteria
Side Effects:
diarrhoea and insomnia, hot and cold flashes, nausea, slurring of speech, swelling and numbness in the face
