Indications:
Supplementing iron in the diet and preventing or treating low levels of iron in the blood
Dosage:
Males: 8 mg/day; Females: 18 mg/day; Pregnant females: 27 mg/day; Lactating females: 9 mg/day
Mechanism of Action:
Replaces iron found in haemoglobin, myoglobin, and enzymes; allows the transportation of oxygen via haemoglobin
Side Effects:
Constipation; darkened or green stools; diarrhoea; loss of appetite
