Indications:
Nasal decongestant; Used in treating Haemorrhoids, Hypotension
Dosage:
Adult – 5 to 10 mg daily in divided doses
Paediatric – Up to 7.5 mg daily in divided doses
Mechanism of Action:
Sympathomimetic amine that acts predominantly on α-adrenergic receptors; Vasoconstriction in the mucosa of the respiratory tract leads to decreased oedema and increased drainage of sinus cavities
Side Effects:
Headache, dizziness, nervousness, nausea
