Omeprazole

Indications:
Antacid; Used in the therapy of stomach ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), heartburn, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome

Dosage:
Adult – 20 to 40 mg daily in divided doses
Paediatric – 10 to 20 mg daily in divided doses

Mechanism of Action:
Proton pump inhibitor; suppresses gastric acid secretion by specific inhibition of the H+/K+-ATPase in the gastric parietal cell

Side Effects:
Confusion, drowsiness, blurred vision, tachycardia, nausea and dry mouth
