Ampicillin

Indications:
Antibiotic; Used in treatment of infections such as bladder infections, pneumonia, gonorrhoea, meningitis, or infections of the stomach or intestines

Dosage:
Adult – 500 to 2000 mg (maximum) daily in divided doses
Paediatric – Divided doses up to 1500 mg (maximum) daily

Mechanism of Action:
Antibacterial; Least serum bound of all Penicillins and hence diffuses into most body tissues and fluids

Side Effects:
GI effects (diarrhoea, nausea); rash

Molecular Structure:
AMPICILLIN
